Anyway, the main reason that lead to my downside is due to the fact that I'm commencing my temporary assignment tmrw, got informed just yesterday from Irene that I'll be located at Raffles City whereas bibi would be at Marriot Hotel (Headquarter) doing packing of mooncakes as well as delivery. In other words, I'll be standing for 12 hours straight daily (with only 1 hour of break) consecutively for 7 days. On the other hand, bibi got to chill in the vehicle while he's doing his delivery! To add on, my friend told me that the booth over at Raffles City had no air-conditioner and I gotta work with 2 other workers from China (No tertiary students but me). This sucks because its equivalent that I've got nobody to talk to or relatively people with common topics to chat with, during times when I feel like slacking. I even have to endure the heat in the booth throughout the entire day. I can presume that time is gonna tick by itself at a really slow speed. How am i supposed to endure the unearthly 12 hours each day!! :( I just hope that the China workers are gonna be friendly to me and nice to work with, if not, life is just gonna be tough.
On a positive note, its gonna last me for a week only! C'mon, I'm sure i can do this. 1 week, just 1 week. After which, I can enjoy the rest of my holidays be it lazing around at home or going out with bibi :D I'm going to look forward to it and survive this challenge!! Hah, I made it sound like mission impossible.
Oh yes, did I mention that today was a turmoil when Tricia, Gordon, bibi and me head down to Clarke Quay after school to collect our pay? We waited there for quite some time just to speak with the Director of Operations because the other guy - Pravin wasn't around. We're totally unhappy/disappointed/furious/mad/upset/pissed with TCC's way of operation. To give you some background story: We were supposed to work for TCC for the mooncake event dated way back to 22 August. TCC claimed that we are able to start work approximately between 22 - 24 August but a woman called me up around 24 August telling me that the mooncake job has been postponed due to some problems with the negotiation process. So, I accepted the explanations and agreed that they'll call me SOON after the event is able to resume. I felt baffled inside because aren't they supposed to have already CONFIRMED our roles with the respective hotels since they even asked us to come down to confirm our dates of availabilities and schedules of the job. From then on, I've waited for about 3 weeks for that mooncake job yet there's no news at all. Only managed to hear from Tricia that it had been cancelled after she made a call to TCC. They even encouraged us to take up some of their other jobs that are available which are literally restricted to banquets. To be frank, I accepted the RWS recommendations just because you promised to offer me the mooncake job after the RWS had ended. The experience with MICE @ RWS isn't a pleasant one and it left me with a bad impression with their management. So, I didn't accept any of their banquets recommendation anymore and WE would like to have a refund of our typhoid money since we took it because we wanted to work for the mooncake. In the end, the deal is called off. We are unable to achieve the 150 hours as stated, since we aren't able to work for mooncake. Isn't it liberty that you should refund us the typhoid money due to your miscommunication among employees? So what's all the 'taking time to process' about? Is it for the sake of saving your company's reputation of not admitting to your mistakes on your part? Anyway, a piece of advice for you, as well as your company, in future DO allow your employees to communicate better be it verbal or written because from what I see, the state of your HR department is in a state of battlefield assimilation. Do learn how to organise and handle each employees' work instead of being SO disorganised and having everything messed up. I beg to differ with your point that every decision have to be "process" up to your top management before coming to a conclusion because its really time-consuming - not yours, but your workers/customers. I'm expecting an answer from you by wednesday as what you have requested.
I'm gonna end my post with a picture of my cute lil boyfee, never fails to brighten me up. ^^
Sayang, I hope you'll be able to persevere through your work alright! Do remember that I'll always be tolling with you (though not side by side) whenever you feel upsetting or frustrated in the midst of work. You're not alone. Even if your colleagues are people that are hostile and selfish, always remember that such an encounter would build you stronger. Never admit defeat, but overcome them. If you feel really tired and unable to take it, give yourself a break, take a rest. Don't try too hard and put on a strong front alright? Whenever you feel bored, think of me. Whenever you feel like giving up, think of the pay, think of me, I'm persevering on like you. At the end of the 7 days, we'll get to enjoy the fruits of our labour. It's just 7 days, praise yourself for everyday you've accomplished, time would pass. I'll sayang you at the end of everyday you've persevered through. :') Luv you ♥
